About these estimates

Rate used: European Central Bank reference rates, observed 23 Oct 2026.

Wise fee: 0.48% for converting USD to INR, from Wise's public quote seen 24 Oct 2026.

Taxes, withholding, account-specific pricing, intermediary bank charges and eligibility can change the final amount. Fiverr's bank payout uses the $3 fee and 2% conversion fee in Payoneer's published schedule for Fiverr sellers, applied to the reference rate. Ria's invoice eligibility is not confirmed. Rupee line items are rounded separately, so they may differ from the final total by ₹1.

Upwork's fee on your contract

Upwork charges freelancers a service fee on each contract, set between 0% and 15%, and shows the exact percentage on the contract before you accept it. The calculator starts at 10% as an example; change it to the fee on your own contract.

The fee is taken from what the client pays before the money reaches your Upwork balance, so a $1,000 milestone with a 10% fee leaves $900 to withdraw.

Withdrawing from Upwork to India

Upwork lists a $0.99 fee to withdraw directly to a local bank account in India, and its payment partner converts the dollars to rupees at its own rate. The calculator assumes that rate is about 2% below the reference rate; your Upwork account shows the actual rate when you withdraw. You can also withdraw to Payoneer, or to a US receiving account such as Infinity's for $2.99, and convert from there.

Upwork's rules also matter for money: for 24 months from the start of a client relationship that began on Upwork, both of you must keep payments on Upwork, unless the client pays Upwork's conversion fee to move the contract off it, as the payments guide explains.
